About Me

Hi, I am Pamela. I am a Level 4 fully certified Essentrics® instructor. I love love love exercise and have always been looking for new ways to challenge my fitness level. My goal is to keep my body strong and mobile as I age, and I am also passionate about helping others do this. This has been a journey. I realized that I had to find movement that was challenging and kind to my body. As I went through Essentrics® rigorous instructor training program, I started to understand that I can't be just strong or flexible; I need to be both strong and flexible to have a balanced body to feel good and prevent nagging injuries. Also, it became evident that good posture is not just about aesthetics, it's also about having my bones, especially my spine and my knees, be in alignment as I move. Otherwise, I could create imbalances that eventually result in pain or injuries.

After decades of doing high-impact workouts and having nagging hip and upper back pain, I found Essentrics® in 2016. I immediately noticed how less stiff I felt after the class and the next day. Even with two decades of practicing Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga, I quickly realized Essentrics is the missing piece that allows me to work my body hard without injuries, thus allowing me to do the activities I love, like spinning, power yoga, and hiking. I started the Essentrics® teacher training in 2017 and never looked back as I went through each training level. My goal is to help as many people as I can stay active and feel good.

  • In 1987, I ran my first mile huffing and puffing the whole way. From there, I found my love of exercise, which made me realize what I put in my body matters if I wanted to have the fuel to exercise. This began my whole foods journey. I began to eat natural foods. I then took macrobiotic cooking classes, leading me to the Natural Gourmet Institute in 1994. I learned to cook vegetarian, different ethnic dishes and most importantly to honor the quality and preparation of whole, fresh, and ethically sourced food. I had my children shortly after and needed to balance eating with friends and family with being true to my food philosophy. My philosophy has evolved, and I continue to educate myself and my family about healthy eating. Bottom line, I do my best to eat ethically, organically, and with conscious awareness.

Testimonials

After watching Classical Stretch for a few years on PBS, I was delighted to find Pamela. With a desk job that keeps me sitting for many hours each day, overweight, out of shape, and on the downside of 60; I wasn't sure how well I would be able to handle the program.

Working with Pamela ensures that I am doing the routines correctly, thus not injuring myself, which laid my initial concerns to rest. I am now confident that the benefits of the program will aid me in my goal of long-term weight loss and overall physical fitness. My training session is now what I call “the fastest hour of my week”.

I started attending classes with Pamela after watching Essentrics programs on PBS and trying some of the workouts at home. Our in-person classes add more customization to the workouts; Pamela is attentive to specific issues such as pain and stiffness, and she teaches techniques that address these problems.

As a result, my flexibility, strength, and balance are finally starting to improve, all of which also help during my curling league. People of widely varying ages, including those in their thirties like me, can benefit from this program.

I am so glad that I discovered such a terrific instructor!

Pamela is a wonderful and understanding Essentrics instructor who is willing to adjust one-hour workouts according to one's long-term or short-term physical needs. Many elements are consistent from one week to the next, but then she'll include something different to change it up and see how it works. The complex moves make the workout challenging and fun.

Attending weekly classes has helped me with regaining some flexibility and balance I previously had and learning how to continue improving both.

— Katie P.
